Search Engine Optimization (SEO) part 1
Well, it’s very interesting to talk about Search Engine Optimization (SEO). What is SEO? SEO is the process of optimizing your web pages so that search engines can quickly find out what your website is all about. There are so many articles and webmasters talk about SEO Service, SEO techniques, webdesign, site promotion, seo contest, link building, and so on. It takes time to discuss about SEO. We know there are 2 types of optimization: onpage optimization and offpage optimization. I try to explain onpage and offpage optimization.
The important things about Onpage Optimization are:
1. Add a Title
The page Title should include ONLY our main keywords. The least amount of words you use, the more weight Google will give to reach of the keywords and the higher you will rank.
- delete words “and” in your Title
- replace ands with “|” character
- always combine the keywords, for example: combine “submit search engine” with “search engine optimization” to “submit search engine optimization”.
2. The Meta Keywords tag
The Meta Keywords tag allows you to define which search terms are important to your web page according to your opinion. It should be placed between the <head> … </head> tags in the HTML code of your web page. Many search engines don’t use this tag anymore.
Example : <META NAME=”Keywords” CONTENT=”MES-SEOmaster, SEO Consultant, SEO Techniques, webmaster”>
At least one keyword per 1-2 paragraphs, depending on how large your page is. Place your main keyword: at the very top left and at the very bottom right hand side of the web/content. It is also good if you put your keyword after copyright sign.
3. The Meta Description tag
The Meta Description tag allows you to describe your web page. Some search engines display the text of the Meta Description tag in the search results That means that this tag allows you to influence the appearance of your search results in some search engines.
Example : <META NAME=”Description” CONTENT=”MES-SEOmaster.com is a site about SEO Techniques, SEO Articles, SEO Contests, Site Promotion”>
4. Body Text
The body text is the text on your web page that can be seen by people in their web browsers. It does not include HTML commands, comments, etc. The more visible text there is on a web page, the more a search engine can index. The body text of a web page is very important to search engines.
5. The First Sentence of The Body Text
The first sentence of the body text is the first sentence after the <body> tag in the HTML code of your web page. Some search engines give more relevance to search terms when they appear in the first sentence. Some will use your first sentence as the description of your page on the search result page. Note that the first sentence of the body text is often not the first sentence that is visible on your web page. Depending on your web page design, the first sentence might appear somewhere else on your page. Search engines consider the first sentence that can be found after the body text as the first sentence, regardless of where it appears on your page.
Example : <body>This is the first sentence. This text is not the first sentence.</body>
6. Add <h1> header tags (Headlines)
Some search engines give extra relevance to search terms that appear in the headline texts. Use your main keywords for <h1> header tags.
Example : <h1>SEO World from MES-SEOmaster.com</h1>
